Vintage Look- 1940's Purple Suit
(Did y'all notice that I am coyly showing you a little pocket? More of a finger-warmer, but still...)
Remember when you learned in school that red and blue make purple? Well, if you ever had a shadow of a doubt, this will lay them to rest. The suit is woven of blue and red strands of wool, and as you can see from the photos, the two combine to make a gorgeous plum color. But I really think it is most lovely from close enough to see the variegation of the two colors. And look at that great purple rhinestone embellishment.
What I adore about forties fashion is that everything was fitted to look tailored and classic. No baggy, boxy suits here.
And the sleeves have the sweetest turned back cuffs with points that flare off the wrists. Heavens to Betsy! Taking pictures inside the house in winter is like taking photos of an albino bat in it's cave! Sorry they are so terrible, but I am not going outside in that cold wind...

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! I love how the weave makes the color, very clever indeed!! 2 looks in 1😂 one for close friends and one for those admiring from afar!....
Ha! I love that, only those that get in my "private space" bubble get to check out the weave😂. Thanks, dear friend!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful suit on a beautiful lady. I like the shoes.
Thank you, sweet lady! I've had a Christmas card for you at church these last few Sundays. I've missed you, and hope you both are feeling well and excited to start a new year!

ReplyDeleteThe mustard colored shoes are perfect with the plum dress, because they are complementary colors! Violet and yellow are directly across from each other on the color wheel... and the muted colors are perfect for each other. If they were really bright, they could be a little too strong, but they’re not. They’re perfect! Take this from former Gentry HS art teacher! Love your posts!
Thank you so much- such kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. Sometimes it feels like I am writing to myself😊. Thank you for visiting my blog, and I hope your New Year is a blessed one!
